When we were kids, my brother used to say that any day is a great day for the beach. Of course we were young and a cold weather didn’t affect us as much as it might do these days. But I sure still love the idea of it. So, whenever you plan to go and spend a day at the beach, here are some tips that will help you protect your health and reduce sun damage and ensure the day will be totally and only fun!
Skin Care
Well it’s the most important thing when spending time out under the shining sun. Skin care products can allow you protecting your skin from over-exposure to the sun and its UV light. Applying sunscreen each and every time you’re about to stay out in the sun will allow you to reduce the risk to get skin’s diseases. It is also important to reapply it every time you go in and out of the water or about every hour spent outside in the sun. At the end of the day, after you took a shower, it is important to apply “after sun” lotion that’s meant to reduce the impact of the sun on our skin and to cool it.
Be sure to follow those tips even if you feel that the sun isn’t that warm – it has an impact on our skin even when it is not warm.
Stay Hydrated
When staying at the beach it is important to keep hydrating the whole time. The heat and the fact that we’re more active at the beach, cause us to loss fluids faster than usual. Pay extra attention to the young ones if you go with kids, as they can “forget” drinking while having so much fan (I know we sure did when we were kids).
Eat Something
All of us know that it is strongly recommended to not eat right before swimming – but, it is important to eat before going to the beach rather than going swimming on an empty stomach, which might lead to dizziness just the same as when you work out on an empty stomach. After swimming, it is also advised to eat something, even a little snack, in order to restore your energy. Have fun!
